You can fix a mediocre campaign with a great landing page far more easily than you can fix a mediocre landing page with a great campaign. Yet most advertisers still point their budget at a homepage and wonder where the leads went.
Why the homepage fails paid traffic
A homepage is built for people who already know you and are choosing a direction. Ad traffic is the opposite: strangers, arriving on a specific promise, with no patience. Handing them a navigation bar with nine options is asking them to do your job.
Every extra choice on the page is a chance to choose nothing. A landing page has exactly one thing to do.
The structure we build
- Headline that repeats the ad's promise. If the ad said “free renovation quote in 48 hours,” the page says that, in those words. Mismatch is the single biggest cause of an immediate bounce.
- Form or primary action above the fold. Visible without scrolling on a phone, not buried at the bottom.
- Three or four benefit bullets. What they get, in their language, not your service names.
- Proof. Named clients, real numbers, testimonials with faces, review counts, certifications.
- How it works. Three to five steps so nobody has to wonder what happens after they hit send.
- Objection handling. A short FAQ answering the reasons people hesitate: price, commitment, timeline, “will I get spammed.”
- Repeat the call to action. At least twice more as the page goes on.
What to leave off
- The full site navigation. Logo and phone number are enough.
- A second, competing offer. One page, one action.
- Autoplaying hero video that delays the page on mobile data.
- Long paragraphs about your company history. Nobody arriving from an ad cares yet.
Benchmarks worth knowing
| Page type | Reasonable conversion rate |
|---|---|
| Homepage receiving ad traffic | 1–2% |
| Dedicated landing page, direct enquiry | 4–8% |
| Dedicated landing page, free offer or guide | 8–15% |
| Click-to-WhatsApp flow | 10–20% |
These are ranges from our own Malaysian client accounts. Your market and offer will move them, but if you are at 1% on a dedicated page, something on the list above is broken.
Measure it properly, or do not bother
A landing page without conversion tracking is a guess with a nice header. Before you send a single paid click:
- Configure the conversion event in GA4 and in the ad platform.
- Tag every ad with UTM parameters so the source reaches your CRM.
- Submit the form yourself and confirm the event actually fires.
- Reconcile platform-reported conversions against your CRM monthly. They will never match exactly; they should be within about 10–20%.
One page per offer, one offer per page
If you run three campaigns for three services, you need three landing pages. It feels like more work, and it is — but message match is the cheapest conversion-rate improvement available, and duplicating a page takes an hour.
